How to Spend Your First 2 Weeks With Alo Moves
New to Alo Moves? With so many classes suddenly available for you to practice, it might feel overwhelming to figure out what to do, especially if you’re new to movement and meditation. We created this beginner’s guide to help you make the most of your first two weeks using Alo Moves.
First things first — get a lay of the land.
Learning how to navigate Alo Moves will help you figure out the best way to choose a class and use Alo Moves in your daily life. Before you dive in, you‘ll be prompted to take a survey about your class preferences. TAKE THE SURVEY — this will be key to customizing your daily class recommendations on your homepage.
IF YOU’RE USING The App
Once you open the app, you’ll immediately land on the Home screen with a sliding carousel at the top featuring new classes, series, and playlists. Scroll down to see your recommended classes and series, popular categories, daily meditations, playlists, and more.
Hit the plus icon at the bottom center of your screen to access My Practice. Here, you’ll find your saved series, classes, and playlists. You can also look at your class logs and followers.
Use the Search icon at the bottom right corner to look for specific key words for what you want to practice. This page will also highlight a few of our popular class styles in each category.
IF YOU’RE on desktop
Logging in will take you right to the Home page. From there, you’ll see a top navigation bar that says My Practice, then our class categories Yoga, Fitness, Mindfulness, Wellness, and Skills. To the right, you’ll see a search icon and your profile icon. When you hover over the profile icon, you’ll see a dropdown menu that links to My Profile, My Playlists, Notifications, Community, Settings, and more.
My Practice
See a class you like but don’t want to practice it now? You can save it for later. Hover over My Practice to view all your Completed Classes, Saved Classes, Saved Series, Playlists, and Recently Saved content.
Class Finder
Explore Class Finder, our entire library of Alo Moves classes. You can use the filter to find classes sorted by Category, Duration, Focus Area, Equipment, Difficulty, Intensity, and Instructors.
Category - Drill down into Yoga, Fitness, Mindfulness, and Wellness with specific class styles
Duration - Select a class time ranging from zero minutes to 90+ minutes
Focus Area - Choose which body part(s) you want to target
Instructors - See all classes by a specific instructor
Difficulty - Levels include Introductory, Beginner, Moderate, Intermediate, and Advanced
Intensity - The amount of effort you’ll exert in each class, ranging from Levels 1-4
2. Choose your first class on Alo Moves.
We asked our members to share their favorite method of choosing a class on Alo Moves, but you can also try one of these quick tips:
Use the Class Finder feature to apply filters based on what you’re looking for and narrow down your choices. Start with the first class that catches your eye to avoid decision fatigue.
If you’re someone who enjoys structure and want your workouts planned out for you, choose a Series to get into a routine. A series will map out your day-to-day workouts for you.
If you’re completely new to working out or just getting back into it, we recommend trying our introductory-level series. Introductory classes are a step below beginner and will give you a quick overview on the basics.
3. get involved with the Alo Moves community.
Even though this is a virtual platform, there is no shortage of community vibes. If you’re not working out at home with anyone else and you’re looking for an accountability buddy, you can find one in our Official Alo Moves Member Facebook Group. The Facebook group is a great place to also ask questions, get class recommendations, and connect with our community members all over the world. Every day, you can find our community asking for and sharing advice, posting progress pics, and talking about all things movement and mindfulness. We’d love to see you there!
