My Morning Routine: Adrienne Kimberley

6:45 a.m. doesn’t seem so early when you have this relaxing morning routine to look forward to. Barre instructor Adrienne Kimberley’s favorite morning rituals engage all of the senses — the sweet aroma of coffee, the sleepy puppy cuddles, the sound of her favorite morning show. It’s the most engaging and productive time of her day. Learn how she sets the tone for a slow and intentional morning.

6:45 a.m.
I wake up to the smell of coffee brewing. I don’t use an alarm clock — instead I’ve programmed my coffee machine to start making my morning awake-juice at 6:45 a.m. The smell of coffee rises me from my slumber!

7:00 a.m.
Sleepy-wakey snuggles with my husband Eric and my two small dogs, Roxy and Maple. I asked Eric to make sure I’m awake because I love to sleep in, but I want to take advantage of the morning, so he helps me become a morning person! He usually hugs me in bed to make sure I’m up. The pups won’t leave my side until I’m ready to wake either, so we all hang out for a good 15 minutes together. Our family-puppy-pile morning cuddle sesh is truly my favorite part of the day.

7:15 a.m.

I throw on a robe and meander upstairs to get a cup of coffee with a splash of heavy cream. I keep the lights off and I sit by a window. Roxy always cuddles by my side the moment I sit down. I catch up on news headlines by listening to The Get Up morning show on Spotify. I looove watching the sunrise as my coffee kicks in. Once the sun is up, I greet the plants, open the blinds, and make my way into my bathroom for a little face care.

8:15 a.m.
I like to give my face a little love once I’m awake. I do a quick spritz of Youth to the People’s Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist, then I slather on some of their Superfood Firm + Brighten Serum and finish with Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream. While my face is still damp, I take five minutes using the Herbivore Botanicals Jade De-Puffing Face Roller over my entire face. I refrigerate both the mist and my roller, so it feels super cooling and refreshing, and my face feels so vibrant and lifted afterwards!

8:30 a.m.
Time to settle into my home office. I have a rustic wood desk, crystals, plants, art, and inspiring images and quotes everywhere to motivate me. This concludes my quiet, slow start to the day. I switch to drinking water and prepare for my peak creativity. Usually, I’m still in my robe, but the next few hours are my most productive all day! Once at my desk, I formulate my daily post for my Instagram account @barrewithadrienne. I spend about an hour chatting with students and other fitness professionals on Instagram. I love building community and getting to know my students!

10:00 a.m.
Now it’s time to align with my goals. I set down my iPhone, open my Magic of I planner, and reconnect with my monthly desires and intentions. I ask myself: “What can I do right now to get closer to what I want?” Then, I take steps to manifest my dreams before jumping to other work.

11:00 a.m.
Okay, it’s time to slay! I lead an online barre teacher training program called Barre Eclipse, and that takes most of my energy every day. In the late morning, I provide feedback on my trainee’s practice teaching, respond to questions, and — if I have time — create more training content with Eric. Around this time, I’ll also have a light snack. Sometimes it’s a banana, a piece of cheese, green juice, a smoothie, or toast with butter.

12:00 p.m.
I’m ready to move my body by this point. I change into some Alo Yoga leggings and a sports bra and go into our home studio. Our studio is small, but it’s super dreamy. It has white walls, sheer white curtains, a white Alo Mat and barre props — and nothing else! It feels so spacious and invigorating. It feels like an oasis. I usually do 40 minutes of barre — either 7-Day Barre Body or Ultimate Barre Burn — and I combine that with HIIT by Jacy Cunningham. After I do my guided fitness classes, I notice if any of my muscle groups are still craving a workout. Then, I hit up my short single classes for a quick burn in that muscle group! Barre is so effective, so it doesn’t take long. I do this four to five times a week, and on days I don’t do online workouts, I usually go for a 20-minute trail run with Eric and our puppy, Maple! Finally, after my daily workout, I do as many strict pull-ups as I can. I’m almost at 10 pull-ups, but my ultimate goal is 20. I’m so close! Towards the end of my workout, I usually smell Eric cooking lunch, and my belly starts growling because I’m finally very hungry!
