Magical Matcha Latte, 3 Ways (Hot, Iced, Blended)

Matcha is truly magical. In addition to being smooth, earthy, and delicious, it’s full of amazing benefits like being a rich source of cancer-fighting antioxidants, lowering blood pressure and potentially even lowering cholesterol

Swapping out your go-to morning coffee for matcha is also an easy way to give yourself a natural caffeine boost without the jitters. Matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine, which is believed to aid in relaxation and cause alertness without the drowsiness you can get from coffee.

For Alo Moves instructor and sound healer Susy Markoe Schieffelin, matcha is a daily part of her day. “It has become a ritual for me to now make it at home as a part of my morning me time,” says Schieffelin. Read on to learn her recipe (and favorite ingredients) for making a health-boosting matcha latte three ways — hot, iced, and blended.

How to Make a Hot Matcha Latte:

Ingredients:

  • 12 oz. oat milk (Susy’s pick: Minor Figures Oat Milk or Califia Farms Unsweetened Barista Blend Almond Milk)

  • 1 tsp matcha (Susy’s pick: Tenzo Matcha)

  • 1 scoop collagen (Susy’s pick: Bulletproof)

  • 1/2 tsp gelatinized maca (Susy’s pick: Navitas Organics)

Directions:

  1. Heat milk in a pot on the stove until it begins to steam and bubble.

  2. While the milk is heating up, pour about 2 Tbsp. milk into a blender and add the matcha, maca, and collagen. Blend.

  3. Once the milk is hot, pour it into the blender and blend all ingredients on high until frothy.

  4. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy.

How to Make an Iced Matcha Latte:

  1. Pour 2 Tbsp. milk into a blender and add the matcha, maca, and collagen. Blend.

  2. Add cold milk to the blender and blend on high until frothy.

  3. Pour into a tall glass, add ice, and enjoy.

How to Make a Frozen Blended Matcha Latte:

  1. Pour 2 Tbsp. milk into a blender and add the matcha, maca, and collagen. Blend.

  2. Add cold milk and ice to the blender and blend on high until frothy.

  3. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy.
