Heat Up Your Yoga Practice With This Ab-Scorching Move
This is the yoga move that had us sore for days! If you’re looking to sculpt some serious abs and fire up your whole body, try this fun, core-torching move from Briohny Smyth’s 21-Day Yoga Sweat series. This side plank crunch is a great way to tone your obliques, challenge your balance, and build total-body stability and strength.
How to Do Side Plank Crunches
Start in Tabletop Pose on your hands and knees. Send your left leg back behind you (toes on the mat) and activate your core to find balance.
Turn to face the left side of the mat so that you’re resting on your right hand and right shin. Stretch your left arm up to the sky (modified side plank position).
Point your left toes to the left side of the mat and push down so much so that your right knee lifts off the ground and out in front of your core.
Take your left hand behind your head and keep pushing down through your right hand. Inhale, then exhale to curl your left elbow to your right knee. Inhale to open back up, and exhale to curl. Feel your right-side obliques activate.
Move through this exercise as many times as you’d like, then return back to Tabletop and repeat on the opposite side.
