5 Pairs of Yoga Poses that Belong Together
A hot drink and a cozy blanket. A good book and a rainy day. Peanut butter and jelly. Some things were just meant to be together, and these yoga poses are certainly no exception.
When it comes to perfect pairings, you can’t get any better than these poses. In honor of Valentine’s Day (and the other 364 days of the year where we love to practice yoga), we’ve outlined five yoga pose pairings that are a natural fit for each other. Practice these yoga transitions on the mat the next time you’re looking for a seamless flow.
1.
Warrior 2 to Reverse Warrior
Name a more iconic yoga duo — we’ll wait. If you ask most people to imagine a yoga class, this mini-sequence is probably one that comes to mind even if they don’t know the names for these poses. The lifting and side-body release of the Reverse Warrior is a natural and highly welcomed follow-up to the full-body activating Warrior 2. Practice a round of Warrior 2 to Side Angle without Reverse Warrior and you’ll immediately feel what’s missing.

2.
Triangle to Half Moon
There are a variety of ways to come into Half Moon Pose, but none are more solid than the tried-and-true Triangle Pose. Triangle Pose is the perfect launching point for your standing Half Moon balance because you’re practically already there. Just a drop of the front hand and a lift of the back leg will get you where you’re looking to be.

3.
Chair Pose to Forward Fold
We love a good ahh-inducing pose, and for many, Forward Fold is it — especially after a full-body burner like Chair Pose. When your legs, core, and arms are on fire and you can’t sit any longer, there’s nothing more relieving than dipping down into that sweet, sweet fold.

4.
Single-Leg Down Dog to High Lunge
High Lunge almost feels incomplete without stretching a leg up in Down Dog first. It’s a great way to activate and stretch your lifted leg for the standing poses ahead, and of course, we tend to feel oh-so-graceful while doing it. It also serves as a perfect transition between other poses to Downward Dog, like Scorpion Dog or Wild Thing. And speaking of which…

5.
Wild Thing to Fallen Triangle
Hear us out on this one. If you’ve never tried this yoga pose combo, stretch out first and give it a go. This freeing and creative transition takes you from one feel-good heart opener to another, all while making you feel like a super slick breakdancer with a switch of the hands. While it may be a tricky one for beginners, repeated practice will build your strength and agility for this transition in no time (you might even work up to this Fallen Triangle variation!).
