My Morning Routine: Tela Anderson

From homeschooling to home workouts, Alo Moves Pilates instructor and mom Tela Anderson has a bright and busy morning filled with all the things she loves. See what keeps her on her toes with her daily morning routine.

6 a.m.
I wake up, sit on my mat, and light my morning candle. My kids and I make and sell candles. I sit with my candle and do about 5-10 minutes of a light, good morning workout, or some days, it’s prayer and meditation and intention-setting.

6:15 a.m.
I get showered and dressed, make my bed, and tidy up.

7 a.m.
Me and my candle sit down for coffee. I go over my schedule for the day and my workout goals while I drink my coffee — I’m a coffee girl through and through. Also, my morning candle is named “Sunday Morning Espresso,” so...you get the picture. Love my cup of joe.

7:15 a.m.
I make breakfast for the kids and I pull out their schoolwork for the day. I homeschool.

7:30 a.m.
Kids get ready for the day.

8:00 a.m.
Breakfast for kids. I don’t usually eat breakfast. I do intermittent fasting till 1 p.m. most days. I meal prep our breakfast and lunch the night before while I make dinner so everything is ready to go and I don’t have to think about anything. Also, I plan meals and snacks by the month, so everything I make is already on the calendar and scheduled so what I make is automated and I don’t have to think about it. We plan ahead so we make healthy choices.

I’m blessed to have help with my kids! My mom, my uncle, or my fiancé that works from home come over to supervise and help teach kids while I work from home. I put together their entire year’s curriculum so everything is ready and set to go each day.

I go for a quick 20-minute run and then do at least 30 minutes of Pilates and strength training and have a quick shower.

9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
I usually start teaching clients during this time. After that, the kids and I get our workouts in together. My kids run with me or ride their scooters while I run in the afternoon — usually we do about two to three miles.
