My Morning Routine: Caley Alyssa

Curious how LA-based yoga teacher Caley Alyssa rises and shines in the morning? Read on to learn about her mindful morning routine (adorable pup photos ahead!).


5:00 a.m. - My alarm goes off. I take a few moments to linger in bed and get all the kisses from my pup, Boeckman (who is NOT a morning dog). I also text my boyfriend, who is literally human sunshine, and tell him good morning. 

5:15 a.m. - Hop out of bed, chug a glass of water, and walk the puffkin (he has many nicknames.) It's typically a fast walk 'cause he is SLEEPY and wants to go back to bed, and mama needs to get up to the Palisades. I unplug my e-tron and zip up to practice. 

5:45 a.m. - Swim time. I train with a triathlon swimming group called Tower 26. It's my first time learning how to swim and I love it for cardio and overall fitness. Although now that it's winter, it's getting harder and harder to wake up and jump in cold water when it's still dark in the morning. 

7:30 a.m. - Home and smelling of chlorine, I rinse off and put coconut oil all over my body. 

7:45 a.m. - At this point I've got my mantras blaring from the Jambox and I am typically dancing around singing and kissing the puff. Now it's time to make my green potions: celery juice/matcha! This is an ABSOLUTE MUST in my daily routine. I put MSM powder in my celery juice, which significantly reduces inflammation in your body. It also inhibits the breakdown of cartilage. And my matcha has ghee, oat milk, Superfeast Tremala Mushroom powder, BeeKeepers Naturals Honey, Garden of Life MCT oil, and some lavender essential oil (learn how to make Caley Alyssa’s matcha recipe here).

8:00 a.m. - Meditation/gratitude journal in my Meditation Station. Here's where I'll do my kundalini set or a meditation. I also LOVE pulling a card a day from my favorite tarot deck. Boeckman always comes and lays in the middle of my legs while I meditate. It's the cutest thing!

9:00 a.m. - I take the puff for a longer walk around the Venice Canals and then get myself to the computer and work. This is the time I respond to emails, plan my travel/retreats/workshops/festivals and work on my other projects like my mentorship program.

12:00 p.m. - Breakfast/lunch. I made a massive smoothie bowl full of all the goodies and devour. OR I make a plate of my favorite pickled foods from PickleDudeGuy at the Venice Farmers Market, half an avocado with braggs amino acids, and nutritional yeast. Nom nom nom.
