A simple berry smoothie is always a good idea for a refreshing and satisfying snack or for your breakfast. Keep reading to see all the benefits and then make one for yourself when you want something easy but filling in between meals.

Detox Smoothie Ingredients

What makes a smoothie a detox smoothie? Detox smoothies typically contain ingredients that boost your body’s natural detoxification process. Any ingredients that hydrate your body, increase antioxidants, and stimulate digestion help with detoxifying. This smoothie highlights ginger juice, pea protein, and coconut yogurt.

Benefits of ginger juice

Ginger juice helps to aid digestion and relieve any bloating you might be experiencing. It also has an anti-inflammatory effect, so it’s particularly helpful if you have muscle soreness, feel stiff, or deal with conditions like arthritis. The antioxidants contained in ginger make it a great immunity booster.

Benefits of pea protein

Pea protein is a plant-based source of protein that also contains iron. It is naturally vegan and hypoallergenic, so it works with nearly every type of diet. It blends well with water, and you’ll find that it’s less chalky than other plant-based proteins on the market.

It also contains nine of the essential amino acids that your body cannot make itself, which is also rare when it comes to plant proteins. The taste can vary but many brands offer unflavored versions to add into smoothies and shakes.

Benefits of coconut yogurt

This type of yogurt is dense with live probiotic cultures, which support your gut health, balance your microbiome, and help improve digestion. Nutrients like calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin B12 are found in coconut yogurt and help improve your energy. It’s usually lower in sugar compared to other types of yogurts, although it’s important to check the labels to ensure there is no sugar added. Coconut yogurt contains an antioxidant called lauric acid, which also helps relieve inflammation.
