Harley Pasternak’s 3-Minute Jicama, Tajin & Lime Recipe

Celebrity trainer and nutrition expert Harley Pasternak is about to change your snack game with what he calls his secret ingredient: jicama. If you haven’t heard of jicama, it’s a starchy root vegetable similar to a potato but it absorbs the flavor of whatever you put on it. It’s found mainly in Mexico and South America.
If you have a sweet tooth but are cutting down on your sugar, jicama is a great snack option. “This vegetable, believe it or not, is sweet without having sugar,” says Pasternak. “It has a fiber called inulin, which helps with satiety and blood sugar stability, but it does taste sweet. It has potassium, it has vitamin C, it has calcium, it has everything you would find in all of your favorite other ingredients in fruits, all in one.” Jicama is also high in water content and has an excellent crunch — basically, it’s the perfect snack.
There are two different varieties of jicama as well: jicama de leche, which means “of milk,” and jicama de agua, which means “of water.” If you juice them, the former comes out milky white and the latter comes out clear. The more you know!
Jicama is also a star snack because it takes on the flavor of whatever you add to it. Pasternak likes to prepare jicama with Tajín seasoning and lime juice for a spicy and citrusy snack in between meals. You’ll skin the jicama and cut it into pieces that resemble French fries for an easy treat you can eat with your fingers. It’s also high in antioxidants and promotes digestion as added benefits. All you need is three ingredients for this, and it’ll be your new go-to snack during the day.

Harley Pasternak’s Jicama, Tajin & Lime Recipe
Ingredients
1 jicama
1 lime
Tajín seasoning
Directions
Remove the skin of the jicama and cut into thick French fry-like pieces. Place in a bowl.
Squeeze the juice of half a lime on top, or you can do a full lime depending on your preference.
Sprinkle the Tajín seasoning on top and enjoy.
