Go Green With This Healthy Key Lime Coconut Shake
Make every morning a tropical paradise with this healthy Key Lime Coconut Shake. This immune-boosting, antioxidant-rich smoothie is loaded with vitamin C, healthy fats, protein, and nutrients — it’s the perfect fuel to prepare your body for the busy day ahead. Breakfast smoothies and shakes require minimal prep, are quick and easy to make, and you can take them on the go. Here are a few reasons why this shake takes the (healthy) cake:
It’s loaded with vitamin C. Bananas, limes, avocado, and spinach are excellent sources of vitamin C, which can help boost your immunity and antioxidant levels, reduce blood pressure, and improve iron absorption, just to name a few benefits.
It’s full of the good fats. The fat in coconut milk doesn’t digest in your body the same way other fat does — rather than being absorbed, it’s burned as a carbohydrate. This makes it an excellent choice for athletes and workout warriors!
It’s chock-full of protein. Eating a protein-rich breakfast has been shown to benefit muscle health, support weight loss, and improve blood sugar control and insulin levels.

Key Lime Coconut Shake Recipe
(Serves one as a meal, two as a snack)
1 ripe avocado
Zest + juice of 1 lime (or key lime)
1 cup / 250ml full-fat coconut milk
1 frozen banana
1 handful baby spinach
1 scoop protein powder
Directions:
1. Put all ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth.
Tips:
Adding lime zest will punch up the flavor! Used unwaxed or organic citrus if you plan to zest the lime, and give the uncut lime a good, firm roll on the countertop beforehand to soften the fibers and get the juice flowing.
Using a frozen banana adds a nice creaminess and thickness to this smoothie, which makes it more like a shake.
Make it a smoothie bowl and top it with mixed fruit, granola, and coconut flakes!
