#MovedByHer - International Women's Day 2020

#MOVEDBYHER GIVEAWAY

March 8, 2020

THE GIVEAWAY IS CLOSED AND THE WINNER HAS BEEN CHOSEN!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED.

This year, we want to highlight the women in our community who have accomplished amazing things, as well as the women who have inspired them along the way.

How do we define “amazing?” Anything that takes courage. We’re talking about bold moves, from starting a business to choosing to trust yourself and keep going even in the face of doubt.

Share your story by nominating a woman who has inspired you to think differently, challenge the norm, meet fear with courage, love yourself, or be a better human, then tell us how she impacted your life for the better using #MovedByHer.

You’ll both be entered to win 3 free months of Alo Moves and a $100 Alo Yoga gift card.

Here are some of the amazing stories we heard from our community!

Janina —

“The person I admire most is my mother. An incredibly positive and happy woman who has supported me all my life and always motivated me to never give up. Even when she developed breast cancer, she never stopped laughing and despite the numerous chemos, she was the rock for the whole family. Unfortunately, she lost the fight against cancer 2 years ago, but I know that she is always there for me and that we will be connected forever.”

“The woman in my life who most inspires me is my grandmother, Barbara, aka Mommom. From when I was a child of six weeks old, she jumped in and cared for me, often compromising her wants and desires in favor of mine. She provided me everything a girl growing up could have ever asked for, but most importantly, the love, time, and affection that will always be cherished. When I had my first child at a young age, she jumped in once again helping in every way imaginable. I can not imagine today what my life would have been like without her, and I have such gratitude for all the sacrifices she made for me and for my daughter. To this day, if there is anything I ever needed, she has been there.”

“Getting to be close to 3 years now. I discovered a yogi. Little did I know this yogi had so much more going on in her journey than I could ever imagine. She followed my then private account and was always so supportive — encouraging with my practice (hello, Pincha help!) and life in general. I never knew all the battles she fought..and won! From being a warrior of cancer to an amazing friend and now an incredible mother to a little boy. I am so proud of her for conquering...becoming the strong, funny, and loving friend that I know. Pia (@northernstar_yoga), you have moved me and given me so much hope in life for all I can achieve. I am #MovedByHer to say the least.”

“I love how Caley Alyssa empowers through embodiment. She inspires and challenges people though the use of multiple media outlets, whether it is through meditation, asana practices, or yoga nidra. I appreciate how she shares her journey on how she eliminates single use plastic and her love for matcha. She is an enlightening woman that shines a beautiful bright light for others to learn, grow, and thrive.”

“One in particular I’d like to mention today is Dr. Linda Taylor.

She is one boss babe! She is a mom and wife, an emergency room doctor (beautiful enough to stop hearts, skilled enough to restart them). On top of all of that, Dr. Linda Taylor and a few of her coworkers started their own community urgent care to help provide better care in the community. Dr. Taylor helped mold me into the person I am today. She helped give me the confidence to be a strong, skilled ER nurse in a not-so-easy environment at times.

Dr. Taylor is full of life, energy, and wanderlust hearted. To know her is to love her.”

“When we think of a woman, we always think upon the original woman, our mothers. And yes indeed, my mother has been a big source of inspiration in my life. But over the past 3 years, I’ve developed a wonderful relationship with my former partner (Juliana Luna) and am simply in awe sometimes of our willingness to continue being beacons for one another. We root for each other in all circumstances.  Simply put, I am #MovedByHer.”

“I was always (and still am) very close to my mom. She recognized my ability to listen and shared her thoughts and feelings very truthfully with me even as a child. She would often ask for my feelings and opinions and would sweetly call me her little soul teacher. She nurtured me with unconditional love and trust, hugs, and kisses. I am forever inspired by her strength, grace, and vitality.”

“My sweet mother, who despite her challenging upbringing, grew into a very loving and kind person, has now grown into a warrior as she has courageously battled cancer. Being by her side through this has shown me how truly inspiring she is. I am also deeply grateful to the master Spiritual Teachers in my life, whose discipline and wish to help all people have impacted me deeply; Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, Sharon Salzberg, Tenzin Choky, Venerable Sarah Thresher, and countless other women who have supported me and guided me back into my heart.”
