Alo Moves and the American Red Cross Partner Together for ‘Mental Health Is Health’ Initiative
In honor of mental health awareness month, the partnership will highlight wellness and mental health care for service members, veterans and their support system around them.
LOS ANGELES (May 4, 2021) - Alo Moves and the American Red Cross today announced a partnership that seeks to highlight mental health as it relates to armed service members and the support system around them in honor of mental health awareness month. At the core of the initiative, Alo Moves is offering a free one-year membership to American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) members and their family members as an additional wellness resource that can be accessed through the American Red Cross. Over the course of the month, Alo Moves and the American Red Cross will reveal video content to raise awareness about the different faces of mental health in the military and tie all stories together in a mission-focused video about the impact of mindfulness. Profiles of three individuals who are integral to this community will be created to further spread awareness about the different faces of mental health care, including:
Manny Garcia - A full-circle humanitarian and Marine Corps veteran.
Nikki Stephens - A full-time caregiver to her veteran husband John and mother to five children. Helping others is integral to her personal and professional life, and she advocates for supporting the caregiver community.
Kristen Routh - A mental health professional who provides care to a diverse clientele, including military and veteran members who attend workshops she teaches with the American Red Cross.
“Alo Moves’ impactful wellness content will serve as an extension to the commitment of the American Red Cross to help people cope with the challenges of military service and offer a new environment for connection and support, said Danny Harris, Founder and CEO of Alo Yoga. “By showcasing personal accounts of mental health management, this partnership aims to spread awareness about those impacted by the rising rates of mental health disorders in the military.”
"The American Red Cross has supported our veteran and military communities for nearly 140 years. Through our founder, Clara Barton, we provided relief to injured soldiers during the Civil War. Flash forward to today, the Red Cross is all around the globe supporting U.S. service members and their families" said Koby Langley, Senior Vice President at the American Red Cross. "Caring for U.S. military and veteran communities with free mental wellness workshops and practices like those supported by Alo is one small way we continue to help."
Those with military affiliation can sign up for a free, one-year membership on the American Red Cross website. To learn more about Alo Moves or sign up for a membership, visit www.alomoves.com.
