5 Tree Pose Flows to Celebrate Arbor Day

Claudine Lafond in tree pose outdoors.

Trees and humans have seemingly always shared an intimate connection. From serving as sacred sites to being revered in folklore, to inspiring art and architecture, trees will always be central to our existence. As the Arbor Day Foundation put it, “Trees provide the very necessities of life itself. They clean our air, protect our drinking water, create healthy communities, and feed the human soul.” To celebrate Arbor Day this year, go out and plant a tree if you can, then come back and plant yourself on your mat to practice these Tree Pose flows. There’s a flow for every level from beginner to advanced, and it will leave you feeling more balanced and focused, stretched out (especially in your shoulders, thighs, groins, and torso), and strong throughout your hips and legs.
