Healthy Avocado Toast, 3 Different Ways
Ah, the great modern food debate: what’s the best recipe for avocado toast?
From cheese to seasonings to bread type, there are a variety of factors to consider when building out your avocado toast recipe. Do you make it more simple to let the flavors shine through, or do you spice it up with fun toppings for a heartier meal?
In honor of National Avocado Day on July 31, we asked three of our Alo Moves yoga instructors to share their favorite healthy avocado toast recipe. Want to try one of these recipes, or do you have a different one to share? Tag us on social @alomoves so we can see!
Ashley Galvin’s Goat Cheese and Garlic Avocado Toast
Ingredients
Sprouted whole grain bread or sourdough
Garlic spread
1 Avocado, sliced
Lemon juice
Microgreens or sprouts
Balsamic reduction
Crumbled goat cheese
Instructions
Toast two pieces of your favorite bread. (I either use sprouted whole grain like Ezekiel bread, or sometimes sourdough).
Spread on a thin layer of garlic spread. (You can find this at Trader Joe’s — it’s garlic blended with oil).
Add ½ an avocado to each slice of bread.
Lightly squeeze lemon juice on each slice of bread.
Top with microgreens or sprouts.
Drizzle reduced balsamic vinegar on top.
Finish with goat cheese crumbles and enjoy!

Naya Rappaport’s Cherry Tomatoes and Balsamic Avocado Toast

Himalayan salt
Pine nuts
Sprouts
Cherry tomatoes
Balsamic glaze
Instructions
1. In a bowl, smash the avocado and mix it with olive oil, salt, and lemon juice.
2. Toast the bread slice. Like...really toast it so it can be super crunchy.
3. Spread the avocado on each slice of bread and then top them off with red pepper flakes, Himalayan salt, pine nuts, sprouts, and cherry tomatoes. Finish with balsamic glaze. Bon appetit!

Talia Sutra’s Classic Avocado Toast
Avocados are very close to my heart. Very.
I love everything about them, from their dark green dragon-y skin to their creamy texture and rich, nutritious taste. They are magical.
When I was little, my favorite breakfast was avocado in a soft pita (highly recommended), but today I will be sharing with you my method to making the very best avocado toast.
It may seem simple enough, but simplicity is always hard to truly master because there is always an urge to do more and add more.
My first tip is: let the simple, natural flavors come through. You only need a few ingredients, but make sure they are as fine as possible.
Ingredients:
1-2 slices of your favorite whole wheat sourdough bread
One beautiful ripe avocado
Extra virgin olive oil
Half a lemon
Sea salt
Hemp seeds
Instructions
While you toast the bread (as you like it), slice open the avocado and use a spoon to remove both halves from the peel.
Take out your toasts to cool.
Place the avocado on a wooden board and mash the avocado with the back of a fork, keeping it slightly chunky.
Drizzle a bit of olive oil on top, squeeze a generous amount of lemon, and add a good pinch of salt. Taste your mash and make adjustments if needed.
Use the fork to spread and lay the avocado mash onto the toast.
Sprinkle hemp seeds on top and enjoy right away!
