Woman practicing Alo Moves

New to Alo Moves? With thousands of classes suddenly available for you to practice, it might feel overwhelming to choose your first class or figure out what to do, especially if you’re new to movement and meditation in general. We created this beginner’s guide to Alo Moves to help you make the most of your first two weeks using the platform.

First things first — get a lay of
the land.

Learning how to navigate the Alo Moves site will help you figure out the best way to choose a class and integrate Alo Moves into your week. As soon as you’re logged in on the desktop website, you’ll see a top navigation bar that says Classes, Series, Instructors, the Alo Moves logo, My Practice, and a person icon.

Classes
Click on classes to explore our Class Finder tool, which will take you to our entire library of Alo Moves classes. You can use the filter options to find classes sorted by Duration, Instructors, Style, Difficulty, and Intensity.

  • Duration - How long the class is, ranging from zero minutes to 90+ minutes

  • Instructors - Shows the entire list of instructors on the site

  • Style - Every genre of class we offer under the four umbrella categories of Yoga, Fitness, Mindfulness, and Skills

  • Difficulty - Levels include Beginner, Moderate, Intermediate, and Advanced

  • Intensity - The amount of effort you’ll exert in each class, ranging from Levels 1-4

Series
A series is a collection of classes based on a theme by one Instructor. For example, Yoga for Better Sleep by Naya Rappaport includes six gentle classes designed to help people have a better night’s rest.

Instructors
Clicking on this page will show you photos of all of our instructors. Clicking on their photo will take you to their bio to learn more about them, as well as see all the series and classes that they teach.

Alo Moves logo
Clicking on this logo will take you back to your personalized homepage. On your homepage, you’ll see sections that are personalized for your interests based on the Welcome survey you filled out before joining:

  • Daily Classes For You - Classes based on the interests you selected in your survey

  • Jump Back In - Classes you stopped watching

  • Newest Series - Explore the latest series on Alo Moves

  • Picks For You - Class recommendations based on your interests

  • Newest Playlists - Explore new playlists on Alo Moves. While a series contains classes taught by the same instructor, playlists are collections of classes taught by multiple instructors. You can create your own playlist in My Practice, or explore the ones we’ve created under the Newest Playlists category.

My Practice
If you’re exploring Class Finder and want to save classes to practice later, hover over the black plus button and click “Save to Classes.” You can find all of your saved classes, series, and playlists by visiting your My Practice page.

Person icon
Think of this as command central. Hovering over the person icon will take you to your your profile, where you can edit your information and membership settings, update your photo, log classes, and more; you can check your Notifications to see who has interacted with your class logs; you can visit your Community page to log a class and see what your followers have been practicing lately; and you can visit your Settings, another place to update your membership settings and account information. You will also find links to shop Alo Yoga clothes and gear, buy an Alo Moves gift card, refer a friend, find answers to frequently asked questions, and log out of your account.

Take some time to get acquainted with the Alo Moves platform soon after signing up, and you’ll find it much easier to dive right into choosing classes and making the most of your membership in the first two weeks.

Choose your first class on
Alo Moves.

A common question we get in our Official Alo Moves Member Facebook Group when people first start their membership is “How do I choose a class?” We asked our members to share their favorite method of choosing a class, which you can read on the Alo Moves blog. Here are some of our go-to ways for choosing a class:

  • Use the Class Finder feature, apply the filters based on what you’re looking for to narrow down your choices, and start with the first one that catches your eye.

  • Sort through the different series and follow along with all the classes in one series to get into a routine.

  • Sort by “Most Popular” in Class Finder to see what everyone else is practicing.

  • Check out our Beginner: Start Your Journey playlist to see some of our top beginner classes across a variety of styles.

Try one of the Find What Moves You Challenge tracks for a laid-out list of classes and a printable calendar to reference over the course of a month.
